Devin Rodriguez appeared in federal court after he allegedly tried to rob a Citizens bank in Canton holding several people hostage.

Cameras are not allowed in federal court however Rodriguez was wearing the same bright yellow windbreaker -with a University of Michigan logo - that he had Thursday night at 7:45 when he surrendered peacefully to authorities.

According to the criminal complaint, he allegedly walked into the Citizens Bank on Canton Center Road with a quite a disguise. He wore a black beanie, sunglasses, sweatpants a black jacket and a white medical bandage on his face.

Investigators say he pulled out a semi-automatic weapon and announced he was robbing the bank. Investigators say he ordered the teller to remove money from the vault and taking that teller as well as two other employees and a customer hostage.

While he may have tried to disguise his appearance when he walked into the bank, according to federal prosecutors he gave hostage negotiators his first name while he was talking to them.

The hostages weren't harmed and were released a few hours after the ordeal began. It turns out the suspect didn't actually get any money.

Authorities have not released Rodriguez’s age or where he lives.  The suspect hasn't been formally charged, he is being held in federal custody.

Rodriquez looks to be in his early 20s and was clean cut. He will be back in court on Monday.
