(UPDATE March 10): One day after the discovery of the woman in the car, police say it was likely an accident.

The woman was identified as 22-year-old Acadia Cadotte who was last in contact with people on March 3. Police say she was on her way to visit a friend near Jefferson and Nine Mile. No foul play is expected.

A police spokesperson said that weather that day may have caused the young woman to lose control of her car slide into the lake.

She was discovered after someone called the police Wednesday.

The original story from March 9 is below.

A car was pulled from Lake St. Clair late Wednesday afternoon with the body of a woman inside.

A tow truck pulled a blue sedan from the water in St. Clair Shores. Police were acting on a tip that a car was spotted under the water.

The woman's body was found inside the vehicle, which was pulled out near the dock at 200 Shore Club Drive just before 6 p.m.

It is unclear when it entered the water but it is believed to have been there for days, according to police. It is being investigated as a possible suicide.

In images from SkyFOX the car's back window was missing. Numerous police and fire vehicles including the Macomb County Sheriff Dive Team are at the scene where the car was recovered.
