A dog was found starving and chained up in the backyard of a Detroit home on Tuesday after a month of abandonment.

The group Home Fur-Ever Rescue posted the pictures of the dog. According to the Facebook post, a volunteer received a tip that a dog was left chained up in the backyard of a home after the dog's owners moved out a month ago.

When the volunteer got to the home near 7 Mile and Evergreen, she found the found in desparate need of attention. The animal's ribs were showing and the rescue group said he hadn't eaten in "Lord knows how long".

They gave the dog some food and water and rescued from his backyard. Now, they're pleading with someone to come forward to foster the dog: "A foster home without young kids would be ideal."
