Chase ends, suspect shot by Fraser police in Clinton Township

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - Authorities are investigating after a police chase ended with the shooting of the suspect in Clinton Township.

We're told Fraser police began pursuing the driver of a red Ford Mustang in Fraser. The chase continued into Clinton Township and ended at 15 Mile and Kelly roads when three police vehicles were able to surround and box in the Mustang.

We're told a Fraser police officer fired at least one shot at the suspect, who was still inside of the car.

We're told the suspect, who has been identified as Enzo Evangelista, is alive and in surgery, but has a bullet lodged in his brain and that another bullet went through his shoulder.

It's also unknown at this time why police began pursuing the suspect, but we've learned the chase began less than a mile from where it ended.

We've also learned Evangelista has led police on a chase once before in 2010 that spanned six cities. He was jailed and released in that incident.

15 Mile Road was closed from the traffic light at Kelly Road for a short distance to the east.
