DETROIT (WJBK) - "My daughter was shot 10 times. My grand baby was only shot once," she said.
Ke'li Coleman granddaughter, who was known as 5-year-old Izzy, was shot and killed Thursday night on Lyndon. Police say Izzy and her mom were in the back bedroom sleeping when it happened.
"I have to continually tell this story over and over and over again to family members to correct it," she said.
She says from this grieving family's perspective, so much isn't right, like reports that the mother and other families were feuding.
"They try to spin it like her and her sister argue all the time ... like they never got along. That's not true. Just because a couple of neighbors heard a couple of arguments between sisters does not mean that that's all that they do," she said.
After mom was in the hospital recovering, around 5 a.m. Friday with a search warrant, police went inside a home on Evergreen and shot and killed Detrich Driver. Police say he was armed with an AK-47.
"He was not a suspect, he was a loved one and you took him from us, just like that murderer took my grandbaby from us," Ke'li said.
Chief Craig says before officers entered the home they used verbal commands saying that they were coming inside.
Police say two people are now in custody.
