Church hoping to rebuild after car crashes into building

A church on Detroit's west side is looking for donations after a car crashed into the building and caused significant damage on February 6.

A Ford F150 truck heading north on Livernois Avenue crossed the southbound lanes and crashed into the Christ First Church. The man driving the vehicle suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. Police determined drugs and alcohol were not a factor. The driver did not survive the crash.

There doesn't appear to be any insurance to handle the damage. The 30 or so parishioners are doing what they can, but money is tight. However, leadership wants to stay.
