Citizens help police arrest a stranger-danger suspect in Macomb Twp.

An astute 14 year-old girl ran away from a scary stranger Friday, triggering onlookers to spring into action and make a citizen's arrest.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham tells Fox 2 at approximately 1 p.m. Friday, a 67 year-old man approached the teen. She and some friends were operating a lemonade stand close to a neighborhood garage sale.

Police say the suspect approached the 14 year-old and offered money in return for sexual favors.

The girl immediately ran to her home and told her mother, who ran outside looking for the man.

At the same time, a couple of shoppers at the garage sale had been observing. They saw the man approach the girl in a suspicious manner, and saw her run away. Then they saw mom run outside.

At that point the suspect got in his car and tried to flee. The two shoppers saw him make a move for his car, and quickly got in their car, blocking him in.

A 911 call was placed and Macomb Co. Sheriffs Deputies responded and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect, who's name is being held until he is arraigned, is being held at the Macomb County Jail.

Police say the suspect lives in the area of the crime and may be involved in other stranger danger reports. Detectives are currently reaching out to other police agencies to see if there are other similar incidents reported.
