Clothing store owner: "heart and soul" put into smashed store

A clothing store near Greenfield and Schoolcraft is a disaster after a car plows through the front door and ransacked the store to take thousands of dollars in merchandise.

Keith Owens said he poured his heart and sould into My Place Fashion and it was all ripped away.

"When I pulled up it and seen the van I was in shock it brought sorrow to my heart," Owens said.

That sense of sorrow, disappointment, and disgust has not yet gone away - and likely won't for sometime.

It was around three in the morning when he learned someone had driven into his clothing store. All of his hard work was totaled or taken in minutes.

"They popped the curve I think and they went airborne and bounced off the wall and flipped," Owens said.

It took two tow trucks to pull the 2001 blue plymouth voyager from the front of the store. The van took out almost the entire front wall and everything in its path, setting Owens back more than $30,000 in damages and stolen merchandise.

When Keith opened his store a couple of months ago, he knew he needed surveillance cameras but put them by the register not the front door. He said he never thought anything like this would happen.

"I put my heart and soul into it and I work really hard for what I have," he said.

Right now there is no description of what kind of vehicle the suspects left in but they did leave a trail of blood, which could help police track them down. Keith tells us oficers also stopped by hopsitals in the area to see if someone checked in  with any injuries that could connect them to the crime.

So far, no arrests have been made.

"I think there is more good than bad. I'm here for the people regardless of the matter," that, Owens says, is why he spent much of the day packing up what he could and moving it into storage.

He hopes to have My Fashion Place repaired and open again in less than a week.
