Teen dies after being shot in the head at friend's house

The community gathered Sunday to remember a teen who died after he was shot in the head while hanging out with friends last weekend.

Fifteen-year-old Solomon Bonner competed in the Pontiac Panthers football program. His coach, Kenneth Wade, says he was a big deal on the field and even better person off of it.

"Just an amazing kid that was real vibrant, always a leader for the younger kids in our organization. Always willing to be a leader on the field outisde the field," Wade said.

Solomon was shot in the head while hanging out with friends last weekend. Police say his 14-year-old friend Jeremiah Jackson pulled the trigger. It may have been an accident.

"All you young people, you know I don't have a problem pulling punches. If you know somebody that's carrying a gun, call me. I'll come get it.," Deacon Gerald Smith told Solomon's peers during his vigil.

Friends and teammates sported shirts and hats with Solomon's nickname on them, as well as the hashtag #worththewait. It's a phrase Solomon lived by and it's all the more meaningful now to those whose lives he touched.
