(WJBK) - A Fraser man faces charges that could land him behind bars accused of trying to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sex.
Nicholas Aubert, 30, is facing a couple of charges that could land him behind bars for 14 years, accused of trying to meet a teen girl for sex online.
Aubert is at home on tether free on a $10,000 bond. The sheriff's department says he met the girl on social media and repeatedly tried to get her to have sex with him, knowing she was a minor.
This girl's mother called the sheriff's department and they got the computer enforcement unit on the case which used the girl's social media account to put Aubert in handcuffs.
"It was a matter of days, this man was saying he wanted to do sexual things with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl," said a police officer. "And from there they set up a meet, which happened in Mount Clemens, and this 30-year-old man believed he was meeting with this 15-year-old girl to have sexual relations with her.
"When he showed up to the scene, our police detectives were there and they arrested him."
The sheriff's department says Aubert showed up with a box of condoms for the tryst. He is due back in court in a couple of weeks.
Investigators say this is why parents need to inform their kids about the dangers of meeting people online.
