Confirmed: person of interest in custody after shooting involving officers


Eastpointe police have confirmed that a person of interest has turned himself in after being connected to a shooting involving officers.

Police identified 20-year-old Deon Deonte Stanford as a person of interest in the incident that occurred Friday evening.

Department officials say they were dispatched to the area of Owens and Gratiot because of a man outside with a gun at around 5:30 p.m. While investigating the location, police heard several shots, including one that broke out a window of a business. No officers were hurt.

No charges have been made and police are not confirming if Stanford was the gunman in the shooting.
