Armed man situation at U-M Dearborn resolved peacefully

WEB UPDATE (12:25 a.m.): The armed man at U-M Dearborn has surrendered to police and is in protective custody, according to Dearborn police.

The suspect is being sent to the hospital for evaluation. The man had caused a campus lockdown at the University of Michigan Dearborn late Monday night at 11:30 p.m.

The man, who was said to be distraught, had been inside a car in the university parking lot.

Police were negotiating with the person, while students on campus inside the library or other buildings were told to not go outside.

The school will be open and classes are expected to resume Tuesday.
