"Reggie Reg" Davis is fed up with gun violence.

On Tuesday, Davis, a Wayne County Commissioner is calling for sweeping changes when it comes to who can buy bullets. Davis is calling for a solution - a bullet bill.

"Me and my team are putting together what we refer to as The Bullet Bill," Davis said. "Which is a movement."

A movement that Wayne County Commissioner Davis knows all too well - having lost both my brother and an uncle to gun violence.

"Let's put an end to the frequent stories about Wayne County residents, about Detroiters, identifying loved ones at the morgue."

Commissioner Davis is proposing limiting the purchase of ammunition, and mandatory background checks on those who buy bullets.

A bullet bill is also in line with California proposed legislation that would mandate serial numbers on bullets."

However, this proposal may run into some legal challenges. A Michigan statute, enacted in 1990 - says that "A local unit of government shall not impose ... regulation pertaining to ... ammunition for pistols or other firearms, except as provided by federal law or law of this state."

The commissioner plans on submitting this bill to the full Wayne County Commission on October 4th.

"This is insanity," said Tom Wilson, a community activist. "This is black people shooting black people, and this has got to come to an end."
