Couple found murdered in Clinton Twp home still unsolved 3 years later

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - A Clinton Township couple was murdered inside their home nearly three years ago - but the case remains unsolved.

"The images that are burned into my memory are just so horrific," said Lou Rahhal, brother of the victims. "After Jan 15th. when we discovered their bodies, it's been like one long day."

It was on that day in 2016 when Lou Rahhal's sister Christy McKeogh never showed for work. So her brother went to her home on Uthers Street in Clinton Township to check on her. 

"All the air left my body and my knees buckled," Rahhal said.

Christy's husband Jim McKeough was the first to be found by Lou in the garage. 

"When we saw our brother-in-law Jim in the house it almost seemed like a Halloween prank," Rahhal said.

The cause of death was found to be blunt force trauma. Christy suffered the same fate, her body was found in the living room. 

"Whatever happened was done with such rage, it was a crime of passion, so horrific, so horrible," Rahhal said.

There was no sign of forced entry. nothing taken. No clues. 

Those savage murders happened at a home just on the other side of the fence with its lights on. Whatever happened back in 2016 was likely caught on security cameras at a nearby strip mall but those cameras were not recording.

"They weren't working or turned on and they point right at her driveway and porch," Rahhal said.

Clinton Township police say the case has gone cold, while those who knew the couple described them as warm and giving. 

"I called it 'Hotel McKeogh' because if anyone was in trouble they took them in and kept them there until they healed them."

It is in that spirit that family of Christy and Jim are offering up their own money to help catch a killer - raising the reward from $25,000 to $50,000. 

"We can only pray at this point that someone takes advantage of the 50,000 reward and they can stay anonymous," Rahhal said.
