Dearborn cop accused of groping woman during traffic stop, released on $10k bond

Justin Smith, the Dearborn Police officer charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct, was arraigned Tuesday on the felony charge and released on a $10,000 bond.

The 36-year-old officer was arraigned and formally charged on Tuesday on charges that he groped a woman during a traffic stop in May. After being arraigned and formally charged, he was released on a $10,000 bond.

In June, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said Smith had been suspended without pay and an investigation was underway.

FOX 2 has learned Smith and the victim knew each other but the details of the allegations against him have not been made public.

The court file is currently suppressed at the request of the prosecutor and we're still waiting for a formal statement from the police as well as the city of Dearborn.

FOX 2 expects a statement from the department later on Tuesday.
