Dearborn rival schools come together to battle hunger

They're rivals on the football fields, and now two Dearborn schools are going head-to-head to battle hunger in their community. Dearborn High School is taking on Fordson High School to see who can collect the most canned food.

"We already have a rivalry: Dearborn vs. Fordson, and so we wanted to take that rivalry and really do something good for the community," says Ali Kadouh, a senior at Dearborn.

Stepping things up a notch, the students at Dearborn have put their creativity on display with a video that urges their peers to bring in cans "and beat Fordson!"

No word yet of a Fordson rebuttle.

So whether you're for Dearborn or Fordson, the goal is the same: donate some cans of food. The effort transcends whatever happens on the Gridiron.

"Even if we don't beat them, on or off the field, it's still good that we're doing something to benefit those around us," says Nisreen Faraj, a junior at Dearborn.

The students are also hoping to raise awareness with the hashtag #BattleAgainstHunger.
