Dearborn woman's death by police ruled a homicide

The Wayne County Medical Examiner has ruled the shooting death of a mentally ill woman by Dearborn police a homicide.

The woman was shot and killed Wednesday in front of Fairlane mall on Hubbard Drive near Southfield. Witnesses say the 31-year-old  Detroit woman, alone in her Chevrolet HHR, was driving erratically down Hubbard when Dearborn police tried to stop her.

They say several Dearborn officers were outside of their cruisers, when the woman tried to run them over.

One officer fired multiple shots into the SUV killing her, while another officer was injured. Michigan State Police is now handling the investigation during the incident.
