Deputy shoots carjacking suspect, WB M-59 shut down at Van Dyke

A carjacking suspect armed with a knife was wounded by deputies following a chase Friday night.

The suspect had a "Rambo" style knife after the pursuit ended at Van Dyke. A deputy shot him in the buttocks before he was arrested, investigators told FOX 2.

Investigators say the carjacking happened in Pontiac and began to be pursued by Oakland County Sheriffs into Utica, via M-59.

The suspect is in the hospital. It is not clear how the pursuit ended or how the suspect wielded the knife.

Westbound traffic is stopped east of Van Dyke and is being diverted, police suggest staying out of the area for the next few hours.
