Detroit area musems offer free admission for museum day

This Saturday, seven Detroit area museums are offering free admission as part of Museum Day Live in association with the Smithsonian in Washington.

The Smithsonian in Washington, DC, is always free - a great draw for families and tourists - and 1,300 museums will do the same thing on Saturday for Museum Day Live.

That number includes seven in and around the Detroit area:

Cranbrook Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills
Arab American National Museum, Dearborn
Charles H Wright Museum Of African American History, Detroit
Michigan Science Center, Detroit
Plymouth Historical Museum
Rochester Hills Museum At Van Hoosen Farm
Yankee Air Musuem, Bellville

Outside of the Metro Detroit area, The Longway Planetarium in Flint will be free, as well as the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum and Michigan Women's Historical Center & Hall of Fame in Lansing.

All you have to do is download a free ticket through the Smithsonian's website. CLICK HERE for the interactive map and to pick out the museum you want to see.
