DETROIT (WJBK) - Community members gathered at Detroit's Roosevelt Park on Saturday afternoon with a powerful message aimed at stopping violence against women.
They brought with them pictures of loved one who were killed by their husbands, ex-husbands and boyfriends. Some were murdered in front of their children.
They say they want to come together like this to send a message before anyone else is killed.
Sheila White of hercriesareheard.org has lost several women in her family to violence.
"Over the last six weeks, four more women were murdered by either a husband or an ex-husband, or someone else," she said. "We just want to bring awareness to it -- enough is enough."
Since May 2013, about 70 women have been murdered by family members in the Detroit area.
