A Detroit man was shot and killed inside of his vehicle on Detroit's west side and police are working to get the surveillance video from the murder for more clues.

Police were called to the gas station at Evergreen and Grand River around 3 a.m. According to witnesses, the victim was making a u-turn near the gas station and then pulled in. That's when Johnny Broaden said two men ran up to the car parked at the pump and fired off at least five shots.

"I called 911 as soon as it happened. I watched him take his last breath. This was something you should not see - someone gasping for air bleeding out in the back seat," Broaden said.

Family and friends identified the man as Bobby Beverly. Dwight Bowden said he's known him for decades and that he grew up in the neighborhood.

"He grew up around the corner I knew him for 20 years. Everyone knew him. He was a good guy, we just don't know what happened," Bowden said.

Police are trying to get the surveillance footage from the 76 Gas Station in hopes of tracking the two suspects down. Captain Kurt Worboys said the murder wasn't random.

"It was not a robbery. There was no conversation, this was not random - they were looking for this individual," Worboys said.

Police said evidence shows the men were carrying an AK-47 and a handgun.

Broaden says he's in shock after watching two men so callously take the man's life.

"Just running up on somebody's car and start shooting him. (He had) no chance to defend himself - two guns, two people (against) a guy with no guns and by himself? It was cold blooded," Broaden said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police.
