“I saw the fire truck pull up, EMS, and a police car.”
The neighbor wants to remain anonymous, but he provides a detailed account of what he saw outside a home on La Salle Boulevard around 7p.m. Tuesday.
“There must have been 6 or 7 police cars that showed up. Crime scene trucks showed up. They stayed out there until about 2 a.m.
Police tell Fox 2, that a 4-month-old baby girl is at the center of their investigation. This neighbor says he saw emergency crews take the infant away.
“They left with a baby and a couple of hours later police came back and knocked on door.”
Investigators say the baby's 26-year-old mother told police she put her baby to bed around 5:55 p.m. and less than an hour later went to check on the baby around 6:40 pm. That's when she discovered a large knot on the baby's forehead.
It's still unclear how the knot came about, but investigators say the baby was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.
As police continue their investigation, the mother was arrested and taken into custody for possible child abuse.
The neighbor says he's never seen emergency crews at the house before until Tuesday. He hopes the allegations of child abuse are false
“I would hate to see someone abuse a kid. I have kids of my own and grandkids of my own. That's real harsh.”
