Detroit officer sickened after contact with horse tranquilizer

A Detroit police officer was injured Wednesday night after possibly coming into contact with horse tranquilizers.

It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday near Big Daddy Market Liquor Store on Oakland as police wre investigating an armed robbery.

Police said a 23-year-old was robbed and shot by two men who were able to get away before police arrived. 

When police did arrived, they found the man had horse tranquilizers in his possession but they did not elaborate why.

A Detroit police officer collapsed at the scene and officials believe he may have been exposed to the tranquilizers.

He was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition Wednesday night. The robbery victim was hospitalized with a gunshot wound and is in temporary serious condition.

There was not any suspect information released on the men who robbed the man.
