Detroit police: barricaded gunman surrenders to police

Police in Detroit surrounded a home where a suspected gunman was barricaded inside in northwest Detroit and were able to convince him to surrender peacefully.

Police surrounded the home in the 16100 block of Sussex after one man shot another man in the leg at a home a few blocks away. Police said after the shooting around 5 p.m. in the 15000 block of Sussex, the suspect ran down the street and barricaded himself inside the home where a 6-month old baby was inside.

Detroit Police negotiated with the man for about 15 or 20 minutes before the Special Response Team (SRT) was called to the home. 

Around 5:45, police said the man surrendered peacefully.

Police said the shooting victim is expected to survive.
