DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) - A Detroit police officer was shot in the head responding to a domestic violence call several months ago.
Thankfully Officer Waldis Johnson is still alive, but his recovery battle has been a challenge. This hero and his family could use a some help getting back on their feet.
Five years ago law enforcement officers started playing charity hockey games to help one of their own who made the ultimate sacrifice. Cops and corrections officers have come together every year since as the Detroit Police Hockey Club, with each game for a different cause.
This year they are raising money for Waldis Johnson. For more on Johnson CLICK HERE.
Joining us to talk about the event are Chris Meredyk, Joe Finazzo and Michael Sumyk.
The Detroit Police Hockey Club game is Saturday Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center, 14900 Ford Road. Admission is a $10 donation.
