Detroit police come under fire responding to a call on east side

Detroit Police are investigating their officers being shot at on the city's east side as Fox 2's Hilary Golston speaks with eye witnesses who saw the aftermath.

"We were coming home from hanging with friends and family," Crystal, a witness. "And when I was pulling off Outer Drive there was a whole bunch of police."

Witnesses say that at about 2 to 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning on Buckingham. Investigators say they got a call around 1:45 a.m. with reports someone was breaking into a home in the 5300 block of Buckingham.

Officers called for backup when their "b and e" turned into cops taking cover as they came under fire.  Police say they didn't make any arrests and no officers were hurt.

"I looked out and they had everyone on the ground," Crystal said. "They had men, wonen everybody on the ground in handcuffs.

"Thats very unusual we have a lot of families, we dont have too much going on, what led to that."
