See the frightening new trailer for the Nain Rouge movie filmed in Michigan

The legend of Detroit's Nain Rouge is one step closer to hitting the big screen.

The first trailer for the "Devil's Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge" has been released. Director Sam Logan Khaleghi and actor and musician "Swifty" McVay joined us in studio to tell us more about the film. You can watch the chilling trailer and hear from them in the video player above.

The Nain Rouge, French for "red dwarf", is a creature said to haunt the area. Its legend dates back 300 years ago to the founder of Detroit, Antoine Cadillac. A parade to chase the Nain out of the city was revived in 2010 and continues still to this day.

The mystery and mayhem of the Nain is the focus of "Devil's Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge."

"This particular film, instead of just showing up during bad events, [the Nain] is actually an active part in the mayhem that occurs," explains Sam.

The movie was filmed right here in Michigan and is chalked full with local talent. Sam grew up in Detroit; "Swifty", the founding member of D12, plays Detroit's mayor and has a new song on the movie's soundtrack; FOX 2's Amy Andrews plays the mayor of Lake Orion; and Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh even gets to play the police chief.

"We want this film to be Pure Michigan," Sam says.

The film is expected to debut at Cannes Film Market in 2018. After that, the movie will be shown at Emagine Theatres in Midwest cities like Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis in the spring or summer of 2018.
