A large tree falls on a disabled couple’s car in their driveway and they said they couldn't afford to remove it on their own.

This older Detroit couple has weathered a storm or two so they didn't fret when one came their way on Wednesday.

"We came outside to let the top up because it was starting to rain," said Michael Ramsey.

Seconds later, this storm proved to be one they wouldn't forget.

"By the time we got the top up and got just inside the door," said Ramsey. "And just inside the door, crack. and we looked up and the tree was on the car."

Not only was the tree on the car but it essentially trapped them in the home so they started calling for help.

"The city says it the county problem," Gloria Ramsey said. "And the county says it the city's problem. what? what is happening? so we decided to call channel 2 news."

FOX 2 aired their story Wednesday night and the next morning help arrived in the form of loud tree pulverizing orange Wayne County trucks.

In 20 minutes or so one problem was solved.  As for the car, Michael Ramsey is under the impression that will be taken care of as well.

"They say yes. they say fill out the forms and stuff," Michael said. "I hope it's not a real long time because that is my baby. That car has never been hit or nothing. I'm getting all chocked up just talking about it."

But for now, it's drive-able and that means this couple has a way to get help all on their own.
