DPD investigating own officer for Facebook post against Black Lives Matter movement

Detroit police are investigating after a detective posted an offense message to his Facebook against the Black Lives Matter movement.

Detroit police said the message was posted July 8 by DPD Detective Nate Weekely.

Weekely was talking about how he was worried about going in to work following the Dallas shootings but continued saying, "The only racists here are the piece of **expletive** Black Lives Matter terrorists and their supporters."

The DPD says the comments made by the officer do not reflect on the department as a whole.

DPD Chief James Craig tells us tonight that an internal investigation has been launched.

Detroit police are also planning a news conference for Monday morning to comment on the matter further.
