ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WJBK) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Department says the driver suspected of hitting and killing a man who was found dead in a ditch in Rochester Hills says she thought they hit a deer.
The driver suspected of hitting and killing 22-year-old Christopher Morgan told authorities that she knew she hit something but thought it was a deer.
Morgan was found dead in the ditch along Avon Road Sunday morning.
According to family members, he didn't come after getting into a fight with his girlfriend at the party. He started walking around 11 p.m. Saturday and wasn't discovered until Sunday morning when his family found the body around 11:30 a.m.
The Sheriff says a tipster called in about a black Ford Fusion in the Red Roof Inn in Orion Township. Deputies arrived and found a car with substantial damage to the front right side.
The owner was identified and interviewed and told deputies she believed she had hit a deer near Avon and Adams.
The woman is not in custody at this time. The crash reconstruction unit is investigating the accident and the case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
