Eastern Michigan University served beer Saturday at its game against the Ball State Cardinals as a one-day-trial run to see how it goes over with fans.
So far, the idea is getting a warm welcome by fans.
The beer stands were hopping with customers all day.
Fans from EMU and visiting team Ball state, came together on EMU's new beer patio to enjoy a frothy refreshment.
One fan that spoke to Fox 2 said, "I love beer. It's great, it's wonderful. I think absolutely everybody should drink it."
Arbor Brewing company, the hosts of this trial beer day for the University are hoping to do even more business here in the future.
Renee Greff of the company said, "look around, it's incredible. People are so excited. I think that they're happy to have local beer at a sporting event, yeah it's fantastic."
EMU officials are excited to offer the beer patio, as a way to gage public input, and possibly make this a permanent installment sometime in the future.
The cups of craft beer are priced at seven dollars a cup and were offered only in a designated 21 and up section of the stadium. Police and University officials said Saturday that there were no issues.
EMU will be meeting in the near future to discuss how the trial beer day went, and decide if more beer is in the future for Rynearson Stadium.
