Elderly man arrested for pointing gun at driver on Big Beaver

A 77-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver in a road rage incident last week on Big Beaver Road.

Police say around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28., the male victim was driving his 2016 Audi A3 and had a road rage incident with the driver of a black 2016 Ford Escape.

While the victim was stopped at a traffic light, the suspect pulled up alongside him and pointed a gun at the victim. 

Both drivers continued eastbound when Sterling Heights police officers stopped the suspect on Ryan Road near 7 Mile Road. 

Police recovered an Ernst Thaelmann Germany Makarov 9mm Handgun from the driver, who admitted to removing the handgun and pointing it at the victim.

The 77-year-old man from Sterling Heights was arrested and charged with felonious assault with a handgun.
