Eastpointe fire officials say one woman is dead and 4 others injured in a house fire.
According to fire officials, the blaze broke out around 7:20 a.m. Sunday in the 17000 block of Sprenger.
When fire crews arrived they rescued 4 people from the home, however, one woman in her 80's was not able to be saved and died.
Fox 2 is told the woman's daughter who was also in the home at the time of the fire and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. 3 others were also taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation, one of those a 4-year-old child.
Officials say the fire is accidental in nature, but the cause is still under investigation. Firefighters say the snow and high winds made fighting the fire difficult.
This is the first fatal fire in Eastpointe in nearly 2 decades according to fire officials.
