DETROIT (WJBK) - An elderly woman is hit by a car while crossing the street, just outside her Detroit apartment.
Jackie Baker was struck while crossing Michigan Avenue on July 18th. Surveillance camera caught the moment as the crosswalk light turned green and she went to cross. That's when the driver of a car coming from the other direction drives right into her. Baker suffered a brain hemorrhage, broken pelvis, and several contusions to her body.
Right now, police are investigating the crash as a possible case of texting and driving.
As of Saturday, Baker's family says she has been moved to the traumatic brain injury rehab center. However, they need help updating her apartment so it is safe for her once she is able to come back home.
