The ex-wife of Eminem tries to clear up rumors about her DUI case. Kim Mathers made a sad admission this morning during a call-in to a radio show. The call was unexpected - but quickly turned emotional.

Kim Mathers talked about her personal struggle living in the public eye, and what led to what she revealed as a suicide attempt.

"Our family has never had special or preferable treatment or whatever in any court case we've had," said Mathers in the Mojo In The Morning show interview. She called into the radio show Wednesday to set the record straight.

She was involved in a drunk driving accident last fall and had been accused of special treatment because court records had been sealed.

"After I realized how much drama it was causing, I willingly unsealed the files so everybody could know my personal business yet again," she said.

Last October, Mathers was involved in a one-car crash at 23 Mile and Card roads in Macomb County. She struck a utility pole and her SUV landed upside down in a ditch. Mathers says it was no accident.

"I sat at the end of road I knew no one else but myself would get hurt," she said. "Yes I drank. I took pills and I hit the gas and aimed for the pole."

"What you are admitting, it was a suicide attempt?"

"Yes," Mathers said. "And they knew that, that's why those records were sealed. There was medical information in there, it had nothing to do with rest of the case."

Mathers claims she had been clean for 10 years, but admits she struggles with living in the public eye. She has suffered from depression, especially after she discovered her twin sister dead from an alleged drug overdose in a Warren trailer park.

"Honestly I was starting to do better," she said. "After the death of my sister I had to go look at her dead in that trailer and just everything that was being said about her. It just hurts and now this."

On the radio, Mojo asked if her ex -husband Marshall Mathers has been there for her along the way.

"Yes he has been very supportive," she said. "We are very close friends; we are just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible."

Kim says she is receiving help. She ended the interview with the same advice she gives her kids - hoping others will take it to heart.

"Unless you really know somebody and what's going on in the inside, not just what happens, their mistakes, don't judge anybody."

Mathers' attorney has filed motions to have the case dismissed. She is expected back in court later this month.

Mathers said she never lied, she admitted it was a suicide to first responders right away and apologized. She says never expected to make it out alive.
