Emmy Award Winning Tribute to our Troops returns for 2015

For 11 years, FOX 2 has honored the men and women who put their lives on the line for this country. That tradition continues this year as we honor those soldiers who are an inspiration to us all.

Every year, our goal is to pay Tribute to our Troops from Michigan and with ties to the Great Lakes State. This year is no different but as we were putting our stories together we realized that they all seemed to have the same thread: inspiration.

Here are some of the highlights from this year's program:

- Emma Didlake, She turned 110 in May and had an amazing life. One of her most wanted ambitions was to meet the President, which she did just weeks before she died.

- The story of a soldier who went off to war. He's alive and returned home, but lost both of his legs. Facing a life of uncertainty, he was given a chance to try out new technology that helped him and will help other vets injured returning from war.

- A real life Private Benjamin: Inspired by the Goldie Hawn movie, she joined the Army with plans to prove others wrong. She did exactly that.

- Letters from. What does it feel like, across the world and fighting an enemy, when you get letters from home? What does that mean to the men and women in uniform when kids, moms, wives, husbands, dads, and anyone else takes time to send a message? The answer is inspiring.

You won't want to miss this year's Tribute to Our Troops. It airs Veterans Day, which is Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 p.m. on FOX 2. It will also re-air throughout November and December and we'll provide a link on this page for you to watch the entire 30 minute long presentation.
