EMT who survived stabbing attack released from hospital

EMT Alfredo Rojas is back home after a stabbing attack early Tuesday morning.

Rojas with his partner, Kelly Adams, were responding to a call when they were ambushed by a man with a boxcutter at Third near Martin Luther King.

Rojas, released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, said he is recovering.

"I'm feeling better," he said. "I'm feeling good, thanks to everybody out there. All my family, friends and everybody."

Doctors told Rojas, who was stabbed in the face that he was close to losing his right eye.

"The doctor said I was a couple millimeters from my eye," he said.

Rojas' right hand was also injured in the attack and is bandaged.

The suspected attacker, Michael Montgomery, was arrested late Tuesday night and formally charged Wednesday morning. The 30-year-old is being linked to other previous crimes including rape and murder.
