Maxwell Brack, the ex-boyfriend of Kajavia Globe, walked into the courtroom showing no emotion. He is accused of killing Globe and dumping her body behind a vacant house on Fielding Street in Detroit.

In Friday's preliminary hearing, the medical examiner, family, neighbors on Fielding Street, and one of the officers who found Kajavia Globe's body took the stand.

Her body was found in December after she went missing for several days.

"Ms. Globe's body was brought into our office inside a garbage bin," said Dr. Lokman Sung.

Sung with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, says he could not determine the cause of death in his autopsy for Globe.

He determined the manner of death as a homicide, meaning she was killed by someone.

"She was placed knees first, in the bin," Sung said.

With that, Brack's attorney cross-examined and tried to make the case if it's possible Kajavia Globe may have died from natural causes or an accident, and someone put her body in the garbage container.

"There were no natural diseases in the organs of her body that would have contributed to her death," Sung said.

Before Globe's body was found, a neighbor on Fielding said she saw a man taking a garbage bin behind a vacant house, then came back to the front of the house.

"He stands there and was on the phone," she said.

But the prosecutor never asked if the man the neighbor saw was Maxwell Brack.

Other officers testified they found what appeared to be blood inside Globe's car which was found at a different location.

"I found red dried smears of what appeared to be blood in a center console cup holder," said a police officer.

Another officer who responded to the crime scene on fielding street says he searched another home which was right across and south of the vacant house. Investigators say they found similar items that were found in the garbage bin.

"There were plastic bags, clear plastic bags, similar to what was in the dumpster," testified another officer. "In the basement, there was a fiber material that what appeared to be inside the dumpster."

Brack's attorney could not say exactly when, but that his client lived at the house searched by police at some point prior to Globe's death.

One witness for the prosecutor was not in court due to being ill. The prelim will continue on Feb. 25th.
