Family hopes for answers in man's hit and run death

A young man was hit and killed while walking along a rural Macomb County road over the weekend. The driver who committed the crime - is long gone but his family hopes someone saw something.

The family of Jacob Brand is now offering a $2,500 reward for information about who hit the 21-year-old who had his whole life ahead of him.

"You only had to meet him and you will never forget him," his girlfriend, Brittany Teal, said. "Now that's been ripped from me and I need answers."

Brand was an aspiring electrician and was just about to celebrate his two year anniversary with his girlfriend..

But the answers surrounding his death are scarce. It happened around 2 a.m. on April 29 when he left a bar in Allenton with friends. They left in a car but for some reason, he got out and started walking. That's when he was hit and killed by a driver who never stopped on Bordman road.

"Someone has hit him and left the scene. Take responsibility for what you've done," William Brand, Jacob's father, said.

Crime Stoppers is offering the cash reward for information that would lead to who did it. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
