Family wants justice for man killed outside Family Dollar in 2015

DETROIT (WJBK) - It has been nearly three years since a loving father was gunned down in broad daylight outside a Family Dollar store in Detroit.

Who shot and killed Leroy Davis? It is the question his family and police looking to answer. 

"Leroy was the most loving dad ever," said Santiana Davis, his daughter. "I miss him so much. I just hate that I don't know what happened to him."

Davis was killed outside a Family Dollar on Tireman and Southfield, on July 29, 2015.    
    
He was visiting from Arizona and went to the store expecting to meet a friend, when the gunman approached, fatally shooting him.

"Someone took the time to shoot my son in the back and in the leg," said Susan Watson, his mother. “To me you are a coward when you shoot somebody in the back. 

Leroy Davis was a father of two, a husband, a brother, a son. He went to Detroit Cody High School, then ITT Tech. He later ran a recording studio and started a T-shirt business.
    
His family described him as a hard worker, who loved to help people.

"He was an outgoing guy," said Watson. "He loved sports. He loved to work, he was an entrepreneur. He just wanted to go out and make his own way in the world.

"He helped the homeless. I would get up in the morning on a Saturday to feed the homeless and Leroy would go with me."

There is a $2,500 cash reward for any tip that leads to an arrest and if the tip comes in by midnight Thursday night - the reward goes up to $3,500.
