A deadly shooting in Inkster sends a car careening into the side of a house. One person is dead and at least one other is shot and the killer still at large.

Alfred Austin Jr. was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with another vehicle at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at what residents call the Denby area of Inkster Public Housing. Austin was 28 years old.

Police are looking for a Bonneville-type car which was a car driven by Austin.

Investigators are saying the other man managed to run to Inkster Road where he was taken to the hospital by a Wayne County Sheriff. Austin's vehicle ended up hitting a house.

Lt. Mike Shaw of Michigan State Police say these shooters likely knew each other.

"There was shots exchanged between the two parties," said Shaw. "The one driver or the one passenger we haven't quite determined what he is yet. The vehicle crashed into an actual house here on Moore Court."

The family described their relative.

"This is ridiculous, you shoot someone not once, not one person but two people," said a relative. "And you just take their life like they don't mean anything, like you don't have nobody that loves them and cares and going to feel pain."

Shaw said the area has a high crime rate.

"This is a particularly violent area of Inkster," Shaw said. "This is not unusual to see this type of gun play so to speak."

Police said this murder is not believed to be connected to the two recent murders involving Craigslist.
