Ferndale woman arrested for OWI after getting car stuck on railroad tracks
FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) - A Ferndale woman was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after she got her car stuck on railroad tracks.
Ferndale police say 28-year-old Noel Delahaye managed to exit the car and avoid being killed.
Delahaye allegedly drove off 9 Mile Road onto railroad trucks near Pleasant Street.
Her Jeep became stuck on the tracks, and she called 911 to inform police she was stuck in Birmingham.
Police determined she was actually located in Ferndale, and shortly after received a call that a train had struck a car on the railroad tracks.
Officers arrived on scene to find Delahaye standing near Wolcott and Pleasant talking on her phone with Ferndale police dispatch.
Officers conducted a field sobriety test and arrested Delahaye for operating while intoxicated (super drunk.)
Her breath test results registered as 0.19 percentage blood alcohol concentration, or BAC.
The legal driving limit is .08.
Officers are still investigating pills found in the woman's purse, and whether they were a factor in the incident.
