Fire destroys 2 homes, woman jumps to safety

Roseville Fire and Police are investigating after a fire destroyed two houses Saturday morning on Birmingham Street, that's near the intersection of 12 Mile and Utica roads.

According to police, the fire originally started at a home in the 17000 block of Birmingham Street around 4:45 a.m. and quickly spread to a home next door.

Police say that a woman had to jump from the second story onto the roof of a carport to safety to escape the fire. That person was taken to a local hospital and is going to be ok.

According to a witness, the flames were as high as the sky and brighter than the sun. The intensity of the blaze required multiple fire units from several surrounding cities to be called in to help.

Both houses have been deemed total losses, an investigation into the cause of the fires is underway.
