Deputies had received a call by McCall's wife for a domestic violence situation at 3042 Farrier Lane around 10:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15. By the time deputies arrived, the suspect, McCall, had left the scene and a foot search began, with the help of a K-9 unit.

Sgt. Randy Clinton was reportedly shot by McCall while searching with the K-9 team, shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, about 300 to 400 yards away from the house. Sgt. Clinton was transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he is receiving treatment.

During the search for McCall, around 3:30 a.m. three other York County law enforcement officers were shot, according to the York County Sheriff. Two were taken to Carolinas Medical Center by aviation units and the third was transported by ground. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department assisted by blocking roadways enroute to Carolinas Medical Center.

At some point during the manhunt for McCall, authorities said he shot at a SLED chopper as it was searching for him near Farrier Lane. No pilots were injured.
