Frmr Attny Gen. Eric Holder in Detroit day after being targeted by pipe bomb

On Wednesday, several prominent politicians were targeted by pipe bombs sent through the mail, including former Attorney General Eric Holder.

Holder was in Detroit on Thursday, the day after the packages were received, to campaign for democrats and in support of proposal 2. However, he had other thoughts on his mind after being targeted.

"It's personal, obviously, for me since one was addressed to me," he said.

Holder never received it as it was sent to the wrong address. Despite that, he says he has adequate security.

Secret Service did intercept packages sent to Former president Obama, the Clintons, Joe Biden, actor Robert De Niro and others.

Holder said President Trump's statements about unification were good but they turned when he said "The media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone".

"I'm a little concerned. I thought the initial statement was pretty good. But he has, since that time, moved away from what I thought was a good statement and started to blame the media," he said. "These constant attacks on the media are inconsistent with what an American president should do."

But that's not why Holder was in Michigan. He was campaigning for democrats and in support of proposal 2, which would take the power to draw districts away from lawmakers and put it in the hands of an independent group.

"We don't want to have a system where one party gets to draw districts where it makes it almost impossible for the other party to win. We have seen, in those situations where we have gerrymandering, is you see gridlock."

Once the midterm elections are over, the buzz will be the 2020 election. Is the Presidency something he's considering? If so, he's not talking but he didn't rule it out.

"My focus is on November 6 and making sure that we elect Democrats around the country and especially right here in Michigan," Holder said. "We'll see we'll see."
