The office of Governor Rick Snyder announced Monday that the governor will sign the road funding package approved by the house and senate last week.

According to a press release, Gov. Snyder will sign the package at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Snyder's announcement to sign the bill does not come as a surprise, he was a big proponent of the bill and applauded the plan passed by legislature last week, calling it comprehensive, fiscally responsible and "outstanding."

The Republican governor is eager to sign the bills that won final approval late Tuesday and that include a 7.3-cent gasoline tax hike and a 20 percent vehicle registration fee increase. He says Michigan is making the largest investment in roads and bridges in more than a half-century.
