There are more than 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline that surround Michigan, making the view from space truly remarkable.

NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly is spending a year in space and has been documenting his travels from space on Twitter.

Monday morning, he published this tweet that showed the outline of the Great Lakes surrounded by the great cities that dot the shoreline:

Monday's photo features the bright lights of Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis. However, you can also see Cleveland Toronto, New  York and even Boston  off in the distance.

As a bonus, at the top of the picture you even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

This isn't Kelly's first shot of the area from space. In September, he sent back a picture of Detroit as part of his #SundayNFLStadiumPicFromSpace.
