Group methodically steals 5 cars from Detroit lot (video)

- Five cars were stolen from a Detroit car center early Friday morning after thieves broke their way in through a window and began taking keys.

Police say five or six men busted through the window of the Oakwood Car Center off Grand River near Telegraph, found the keys they needed, and took off with five cars.

"This is heartbreaking. This is what I work for," said owner Sean Salameh.

First they shattered the glass. Once the group of men had the board of keys, they started moving cars around in the lot like a game of Tetris. Salameh says it looks like they've done this before.

"For somebody to come in here and just do something like that, they have no mercy or sympathy," he said.

One man acting as a lookout for cops, they used a Dodge Journey to ram through the barbed wire gate and begin peeling out. The group got away with four vehicles, but came back for a Chrysler 300.

Sean says about $30,000 worth of cars were stolen, along with the cost of the damages. He's still missing about 20 keys to his cars. The worry now is that these guys will be back for more.

Police are looking for the following stolen cars:

  • 2010 Cadillac CTS, Red
  • 2006 Dodge Charger, white with red stripes
  • 2007 Chrysler 300, Silver
  • 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, Silver
  • 2007 GMC Acadia, green
