Hamtramck homeowner finds long-lost photos in wall

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. - The discovery of a secret room inside a home in Hamtramck has Ricardo Bush trying to track down the family of the former owners.

The house has been in Bush's wife's family since the 1930's, but nobody ever knew about a secret room upstairs.

While doing some renovations on Friday, Bush took down some paneling and found not only the room, but two steamer trunks full of another family's memorabilia.

They contained old wedding photos, pictures of small children and a military photo as well.  There are dozens of documents, including an old water bill from 1925 for $2.36, as well as a paycheck from Chrysler Corporation, The Dodge Brothers Main Plant with this message, "Don't spend it all!"

There are even letters sent back and forth from Poland.

"It's so much history in this bag," says Bush. "So much history that somebody should want it. We just figured, whoever, if their people are still alive, they might want them. It'd be a hell of a Christmas present."

The name on the trunk is Daniel Kozak. Other names mentioned in the documents are Peter and Mike Kozak.
