Hamtramck residents of all faiths rally to denounce ISIS

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. - Christians, Jews, Hindus and Muslims are sharing a single message and standing together against ISIS.

They held a rally in Hamtramck today hoping to show the world how unity can conquer hate.

Friday's rally outside Hamtramck City Hall was called United and Concerned Citizens of Hamtramck Denounce ISIS and Terrorism.

And organizers made their position very clear.

"Trust me if someone comes to me with the idea, I will attack him first, hold him and turn him into the government and to the other authorities," said Ibrahim Alijahim of the American Human Rights Council.

It was a gathering of people from different religions, Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu and Buddhist.

"Let them tell the true story of their faith, to let them tell the true story of their life here in America," said Dr. Thaddeus Radzilowski, president of Piast Institute. "My grandparents came from Poland. They moved into in Hamtramck exactly 100 years ago and we're still here."

Speakers used this rare opportunity to learn more about each other and for the human race as a whole, to connect once again.

"Part of the beauty of America is we can come to this country from many other places in the world and we can practice our religion and we can practice our culture," said Muhith Musabbir, a medical student. "But in no way are we trying to change that of others. In fact we're trying to learn from others and teach what we love and allow them to see what our beliefs are."

"All of us who are around here no matter what position, what color, what language we come from," said Abdou Alzindani. "The same mother and father Adam and Eve. So we're all brothers and sisters."

The huge turnout shows the overwhelming support in this community.

"I'm really happy to see such a nice crowd with people who are speaking sincerely from their hearts that we support everyone in the community," said resident Meyer Twylia. "And no one is against anyone for religion or any other negativity that's been put out there."

Organizers also say the comments by Donald Trump did not have anything to do with holding this rally.
